Monitor and 8600 Question
Bob Roberts also concurs that this sounds like a PCB problem and not a monitor issue, so I'll start with the filter caps. I'll probably reseat the chips while I've got the board out just in case. And look for anything else that might look suspect. If it checks out OK, I'll go into the monitor. PS - As I've said,

Dual monitor issue
I set the Power Management to turn off the monitor after 20 minutes, but it doesn't. It just goes blank, with the monitor 'ON' color (green) active -- it should go to 'IDLE' mode (orange). When I disable Advanced Power Management (APM), the monitor does go to 'IDLE' mode properly. But then Windows XP doesn't shut

FYI for those who tried to help: I posted a problem a couple weeks ago, that Director 8.5 would not stretch across to the secondary monitor on my Dell system using Windows XP. I downloaded drivers for my nVidia video card, and updates for D8.5.1 and reinstalled software and nothing worked. I thought I was doomed.

Can you plug this monitor into another computer that is working properly? If so, try it. If the problem transfers to this other computer, it is definitely a cable or monitor issue. I am not sure if this is a motherboard or video card incompatability issue, or simply a part burning out on the monitor itself. It has been tested it on four systems. This is an old 17" monitor that suddenly started acting up on a PII system with Abit motherboard and Invidia Geforce card.

I moved my main monitor to be the right-hand monitor and it cuts-off the calendar too. Based on this I see no point of upgrading my Matrox driver.
