So, I am left to wonder if the monitor caused the problem. For the sake of comparison, I used a multi-tester to read the voltage from the HD15 pins on this 21" monitor, and compared them to readings from my 17" monitor. The 21" monitor gave me 5 volt readings from three pins (5, 12, and 15). The 17" monitor (which

The monitor simply wouldn't come out of standby mode. I did reinstall the old chip with the same result - monitor remains in standby mode and nothing else happens although it's clear the drives are all kicking in. Also, no beeps. I fear both chips are toasted. I guess the next question is how much do ya'll think

I need some help
Truning down the brightness pot doesn't eliminate it....it just makes it dimmer (unless I turn it all the way down). I thought it was my monitor, but the monitor tested fine in an Asteroids. Has anyone seen this problem before? Am I right to assume this is in the Z circuit? Thanks for any suggestions!

Should I be concerned? Only if a) it DOESN'T stablize, or b) it DOESN'T wriggle. It's the degaussing coil degaussing the shadow mask in the CRT. It's a perfectly normal and natural item, and required to avoid speckled colors on the display. Is this a power supply or monitor issue that's going to persist and worsen?

Because you said it was the September 4 issue. Since I don't read PCMag, I assumed it was the last september 4, not the one that hasn't happened yet. If the mag is that ridiculously new, then they should have known about the June reversal of the multi-monitor support issue. Microsoft would probably not sue the

Monitor issue - lost signal
I first assumed this is a monitor issue...but I began wondering if it's possible it could be a video problem from within the 8600 itself? Anyone else experience anything like this with an 8600? Video Problem?
It gives the impression that the screen resolution is rapidly changing. So the screen fluctuates between full screen and about 3/4 screen very rapidly. I have borrowed a known good monitor to try this evening, but if anyone has met this issue before I would be grateful if you share your fix. TIA Fred.

Recently
bought a RFM with the ducksan type 59 monitor. I powered up the game and the monitor was completely blank and dead. Next, I pulled the monitor boards and installed a cap kit according to http://www.pinrepair.com/pin2000. Also, I replaced resistor R348 and the TDA 1675A chip at U201.

I know the resolution is supposed to be applied to all users, but the symptom is very similar to the behavior of the monitor when you apply a new resolution. Does that make sense?
